
I often use twisted wire to finish off jewelry boxes, free-forms, etc. and I show you here how easy it is to make a metal wire braid.
Take three pieces of copper or galvanized wire (I prefer 18 gauge) and clamp it to your work table. Put the other end of the wire in your drill. Pull the wires taught, then start the drill on low speed. Wires will twist evenly and create a braided look. I like a tight braid, but you can stop at any point that you like.
